Water Demand: The estimate of water demand required by the Project users is based on the formulation of a crop portfolio. Crops included are sustainable in time due to their profitability and the timeliness to conduct large-scale agribusiness. The crop portfolio considered for the Project includes sugar cane, cotton, paprika pepper, asparagus, vegetables and fruit (grapes, citric, etc) and is based on the weighted analysis of a matrix that includes variables such as climate, soil, tradition, local and international demand and selling price. The water demand by crops ranges from 5,260 m3/ha/year for vegetables, and up to 16,540 m3/ha/year for fruit, with an average demand of 10,400 m3 per hectare per year.
Surface Water Supply: The supply of surface water for the Project corresponds to the Huancabamba river volume regulated at the Limon dam and then diverted to the coast through the Trans-Andean tunnel. The availability of water for the lots is guaranteed by the Water Reserve granted to the Olmos Project through Supreme Decree N°011-2009-AG, a reserve on which the Concessionaire will obtain the respective Water License.
The Concessionaire will grant lot buyers individual Water License Certificates , thus allowing them to use the water volumes corresponding to their respective lots. Additionally, such certificates will allow users that consume less water to transfer said resources to other users with higher water needs, as considered in the design of the crop portfolio mentioned above.
Pressurized surface water supply per lot: Average of 9,032m3 /gross ha /year or 10,400m3 /net ha /year.
Underground Water Supply: Drilling of exploratory wells has finished and pumping tests have been completed. The results of this study will be available to interested parties in the Virtual Data Room according to the Rules of the Bidding Procedure. Lot buyers may apply to the competent authorities for licenses on well drilling for extraction purposes and for the use of underground water.
